Tampa, FL

In this design-build project for a repeat client in Tampa, FL, TPD Construction Co. employed innovative building techniques to transform a site which was in the perfect location for retail but not ideal for construction. First, to overcome unsuitable soil conditions, piles were driven up to 50-feet deep to create a firm base for the foundation.

The parking lot pavers, while an attractive option over a traditional asphalt lot, also serve an important function as part of a comprehensive storm water management system. Being a permeable surface, they allow water to seep down through into a bed of crushed stone. Excess water is then diverted into an underground holding tank and finally to a retaining pond to allow enough time for it to be absorbed into the groundwater as it would have naturally.

The result is an attractive, functional and environmentally friendly structure on a busy commercial street with very high visibility from a nearby highway.
